Erkut studied Biology at Eskişehir Osmangazi University in Turkey. Following his bachelor, he did his master's studies in Biotechnology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland and prepared his master's thesis at Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Science where he is currently a PhD student. He started to do basic bioinformatic analysis for his master's thesis and performed miRNA - target predictions based on microarray data. During his PhD he specialized in RNA-Sequencing and Mass Spectrometry based proteomics data analysis and integration of transcriptomic and proteomic data. His main area of interests are RNA-binding proteins and post-transcriptional regulation mechanisms.
